God created us with a physical body that contains a soul and a spirit. The physical is made up of a skeleton, flesh, and blood. We have eyes to see, ears to hear, a mouth to talk, hands to touch, and feet to walk.
Our soul is the part of us where our mind, thoughts, will, desires, and emotions come from. It gives us our unique identity. It is associated with our earthly life.
Our spirit is about a deeper connection to God. It points to the God-conscious aspect of our core to relate and commune with God, our Creator, in fellowship and worship, and to have a personal relationship with Him as our Lord and Savior. John 4:24 — Worship Him in spirit and in truth.
Romans 8:16 — He bears witness with our spirits that we are the children of God.
To be well in body, soul, and spirit requires daily practices. To be physically healthy, you must get enough sleep, eat right, get some kind of exercise, and maintain some kind of cleanliness routine. This is normal life for most people.
But for me to have a healthy soul, I move towards nurturing my mind and emotions. I try to create habits that support my inner well-being and connect me to what truly matters. I try to surround myself with people who uplift and encourage me and to recognize all that I’ve been blessed with. I’m working on avoiding negativity by choosing words that are good and helpful, knowing that the power of life and death is in my tongue. Listening to godly music when I can gives my spirit peace. I search out and read faith-based books, and watch TV shows and movies that encourage me and are uplifting. I’m working towards making myself aware that God sees me and wants His best for me.
To have a healthy spirit, I try to spend time with God daily through worship, praise, prayer, reading the Bible, journaling, and art. Many days get filled with the busyness of life, but when I make an effort to look for God’s hand not only in my life but also in creation, it gives me hope and a purpose in my day-to-day world.
My goal for this website is to be able to give you some hope and help that can guide you into wholeness.
