When Jesus was in the desert, Satan tempted Him, and He responded using Scripture. When we are tempted or in a place of our feelings (no matter what those feelings may be), we too must respond with Scripture. There is nothing that we go through in life, bad or good, that God doesn’t address in Scripture.
Proverbs 18:21 tells us that the power of life and death is in the tongue. If you believe God’s Word is true, then ask yourself what you are speaking about. Are you speaking life or death? Do you wake up saying, “I am a child of God. He is for me, not against me. I am chosen, I am accepted, I am a new creation. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”? Or do you wake up saying these thoughts? They are normal and understandable — I’ve said them myself. “Nothing will change for me. I’m stuck in this mess of life, and I can’t do anything about it. I’m alone; nobody cares. I’ve made too many mistakes. I’m just too tired to care anymore. I will always be depressed.”
The Bible is filled with verses for every situation so that you can speak life over yourself. Below are verses for you to get started with. Take what’s here and look up others that relate to your situation. Every morning, get up and start your day with the truth. Speak the words out loud so that your body, soul, and mind will come into alignment with the truth. Say at least 5 every day.

- God has a plan for my life, Jeremiah 29:11
- God listens to me, 1 John 5:14-15
- God gives me strength, Philippians 4:13
- I am an heir of God, Romans 8:17
- I am complete in Christ, Colossians 2:10
- I am accepted, Romans 15:7
It’s time for you and me to start walking in truth and win the battles by using Scripture against the enemy. Satan knows the Word of God and how to twist its words to turn them against you. We can pick up the shield of faith. Believe what it says about who we are in Christ. Tell the enemy he is a liar, and he doesn’t have power in any situation.
